While we have started to break the stigma surrounding mental health, there are still many people who suffer in silence and don't get the help that they need because they feel shame or don't know that there are methods of dealing with these issues. Whether it's through medication, therapy or alternative therapies, one of the most difficult things about living with a mental illness is that many have to find their own path to recovery and coping.
Addiction, especially, is one of the most misunderstood and misrepresented mental conditions throughout the world. It is not something that can't be won in a battle of wills, nor is it the result of being weak or not having self control. There are millions of people whose lives are affected by addiction, both those that suffer themselves and their loved ones.
This is why it is so important to be able to talk about issues to our mental health and understand what it really means to live with mental illness.
