For years, men have been taught that to be "a real man" you need to hide your emotions. But, it is difficult to find inner peace when you keep everything that you're feeling bottled up inside. We want everyone to understand that showing what is going on inside your head and how you feel is not a sign of weakness. It is a great sign of strength.
There are many negative effects that can come from keeping your anger, fear and sadness inside instead of letting it out. When we start to understand addiction, for example, it frequently comes back to people trying to bury past abusive situations, issues with mental health and other buried trauma.
If you don't talk about and deal with the issues that are causing you pain and anger, there can be tragic consequences. The leading cause of femicide is from domestic abuse leading to death. We all have a social responsibility to spread the message that perpetuating the idea that men can't show their emotions can cause violence or self harm.
