You must take time to just breathe sometimes. In a world that is increasingly hectic and productivity-driven, it is essential that you practice self-care. We all get so caught up in the rat race that it seems impossible to catch our breath.
This is a simple reminder to you and those around you that most things we need to do in a day do allow us to take a second to focus and center ourselves. Don’t let yourself get so caught up in accomplishments and tasks that you are compromising your own mental health.

There are actually positive health benefits to breathing deeply as a daily practice. You actually need to take in a strong and deep breath to absorb the oxygen that we need to survive. Fast and shallow breathing can have a negative effect on the body, causing a build up of carbon dioxide. Want to take a nice deep breath? You should feel your back, belly and ribs slightly expand as your diaphragm lowers. (Headspace)
While many people cannot commit to a full meditation practice, even taking a minute or two to practice mindful breathing can have a dramatic effect on stress, anxiety and focus. It can allow distance from thoughts, feelings and situations that you might find overwhelming and help you reassess them with a calmer and clearer mind. (Greater Good Science Centre)
