It is vital that we build a culture of women encouraging each other, rather than tearing each other down. While this needs to start with women who are currently in power and leadership positions and their allies, it makes sense that it does not always come naturally. Women who wished to find professional success have had to be cutthroat and look out for themselves on a level that far exceeds men. Now is the time to use our successes to bring up the next generation and those who were not given the same privileges and opportunities.
While it is important in itself for all women and girls to see themselves having a value equal to men, there is also an economic benefit to empowering women. Encouraging women to enter the workforce and fight for equal pay has helped to boost economies, increased productivity and increased diversification. Using the business model of Sweden, OECD countries have collectively increased their GBP by $6 trillion USD by encouraging more women to enter the workforce and working to close the gender pay gap. Money is power. We need more female CEOs. “In 2017, female founders received just 2.2% of overall venture capital funds invested. That's $1.9 billion out of a total of $85 billion.” Allow more space for female entrepreneurs will make space for new ideas and innovations that might not otherwise become available to us. (INC.)
Question: Why do you think more women are not in government or high-level executives of large companies?
