Happiness can often feel like such an elusive goal; and when you do capture it, it can often feel fleeting. That’s why it is important to constantly fight for your own happiness, rather than leaving it up to chance or circumstance. Sustained happiness takes a lot of effort. It can be exhausting to consistently see the best in yourself and take care of your mental and physical health. But it is essential that you never stop fighting, because a happy you can make your world, and the world at large, a better place.

It is important to not tie happiness to external objects or goals. This never ending pursuit of the next best thing is called the “hedonic treadmill” and it does not lead to sustainable happiness. You must find happiness where you are right now. (Positive Psychology)
Happiness is somewhat tied to finances, but you don’t need to be a millionaire. Princeton University Studies show that your happiness increased up until you make $75,000 a year, but then levels off from there. This is because at that point you should be able to pay for all your bills comfortably without too much stress. After that, people worry more about making mistakes that might cost them their way of life and tend to put significant time and stress into trying to acquire more. (Happify)
