We all have demons and ghosts that live inside of our heads. Sometimes they are past experiences that we have trouble moving on from and can leave a scar. For others, they are caused by mental health issues — causing us to hear negative voices or fall into a pit of darkness.
This design is meant to be cathartic in showing the demons that live inside our heads and exposing them to the world. Even the happiest of people still have dark thoughts and this design has the power of bringing people together through recognizing that while we all might react to and manage those thoughts differently, we all know what it feels like to have a talking monster living in our heads trying to spread negativity and doubt.

Within any given year, 1 in 5 of us will experience a mental health problem or illness. And, as we all have experiences of poor physical health, we will all have times in our lives when we are not completely mentally healthy. This might be a temporary issue brought on by circumstance or could be due to our brain’s chemistry - the same way that problems to our physical health can come from internal or external factors. (CMHA)
On average, we have about 80,000 thoughts in a day. 90% of these are routine thoughts that we have on a repeated basis. For an average person, about 80% of their thoughts skew to being negative. But, it is possible to train our thoughts to look on the bright side and be more positive. (CANR)
