We often remember the big moments, but it is usually a lot of little steps that take us in the right direction. We focus on bright, shiny milestones such as promotions, nuptials and births, but we shouldn’t forget all those little steps that made the milestones possible.
The big moments that we prize above all others are, in reality, few and far between, and over all too quickly. That’s why we need to take joy and pride in the small steps that get us to our destination. The little steps, little moments, reveal the most about ourselves and one another and, when we’re looking back, these are the moments that we’ll treasure.
If the life you want, or need, continues to elude you take a look at the small steps and work out where you may have taken a wrong turn. Appreciate the steps you take to get closer to that milestone and you’ll value the entire journey a lot more highly.
