Tend your own garden, no matter what is going on in the outside world. Your self-care nourishes your soul and gives you the strength to reach your own goals and help others in their times of suffering. Treating yourself well is the first step in participation in a movement that rights the direction of the world over time. The love you give yourself affects the love you can give to others, and as we all know, kindness and love grow - like a garden.

Gardening is healthy for you. A Dutch study showed that people who garden after a stressful task have much lower stress hormone levels than those who don’t. Next time you are stressed about a project, maybe you should try to exercise your green thumb. (Health Talk)
The first step in “tending your own garden” is to identify what is actually within your control. It is helpful to list the things that you can actually control. Put your focus daily on controlling those aspects. You may find that the list is quite small; even if that is discouraging, ultimately it gives you a focus area to tend, and teaches you that worry has little effect on results. Try developing a personal mantra to get you through those activities and to calm you when worrying about the things not on the list. (Inc.)
Question: Think about bad things that have happened to you. How many of those bad things were because of something you could have controlled?
